Overview

Continued growth at Maxor has created an opportunity for a Data Entry Pharmacy Technician to join our growing business in Amarillo. Data Entry Pharmacy Technician will will type new prescriptions and refills according to written prescriptions received by mail, fax, E-Prescribed, or doctor call-in. Perform various related pharmacy duties including quality management activities.

Responsibilities

Assist pharmacists in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services.Provide friendly and cooperative customer service.Enter patient data and prescription information accurately.Answer telephones quickly and with courtesy.Minimize errors. Follow instructions based on a variety of different plan formularies.Generate accurate prescription labels prepared for final fulfillment in the pharmacy.Participate in pharmacy orientation programs, training programs for Pharmacy Technicians, pharmacy staff meetings, in-service educational programs and other committees and functions as required by the facility and pharmacy department.Maintain accurate and complete patient records. Ensure strict patient confidentiality. Follow HIPAA guidelines.Assist in inventory control such as auditing receipt of goods, inventorying, stocking, pricing, monitoring usage, and correcting pricing and quantities in the computer.Inform the pharmacist of any alerts form the pharmacy system, such as contraindications, interactions, and allergies.Participate in activities resolving unsafe and unsanitary practices.Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.Work cooperatively with other staff members to enhance the team concept.Maintains regular attendance according to established policies.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be certified and registered (as required by the state of employment) at time of employment or within one year of employment.

Experience: A minimum of one year of equivalent experience is preferred, requiring a familiarity of generic and trade names of pharmaceutical products.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

General knowledge of generally accepted pharmacy principles, practices and procedures, pharmaceutical generic andtrade names, general mathematics, personal computers.Ability to operate various types of pharmacy equipment.Ability to use various computer programs to access patient/drug information systems.Ability to sit for extended periods of time while performing pharmacy service support duties.Ability to lift; store and carry supplies and equipment.Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, to interact with a wide variety of individuals to successfully provide optimal patient care.Ability to work with close attention to detail and with minimal errors. Must be alert, attentive and precise.Ability to work with speed and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.Must have a working knowledge of computers, including Windows applications.Ability to multi-task and follow instructions.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday. May be required to work rotating shifts, including holidays, weekends, nights, and on-call. On an as needed basis
